Abstract

Academic stress is a significant problem in university students, especially in contexts with high academic demands and socioeconomic limitations. This study analyzed the level of perceived stress in 400 students from the Technical University of Manabí, Ecuador, using a database based on self-reported responses. The results revealed that 52% of students present moderate levels of stress and 30% high levels, with exams, deadlines, and financial problems being the main triggering factors. In addition, a significant correlation was observed between the level of stress and academic workload (r = 0.76), as well as adaptation difficulties in students with higher levels of stress. The implementation of the database allowed to integrate and analyze self-reported responses efficiently, identifying key patterns to design personalized intervention strategies. This approach highlights the need to address both academic and external factors to improve student well-being and promote a healthier educational environment. As future lines, it is proposed to expand the population scope, integrate physiological data to improve the accuracy in stress detection and develop digital tools for real-time monitoring. Likewise, it is recommended to evaluate stress management programs that strengthen students' resilience to academic demands.
