Abstract

Traditional games are part of the intangible cultural heritage of a place, these are the reason for this study that is located in the cantons of Archidona and Tena of the province of Napo. In order to promote and safeguard their practice and as ancestral knowledge, the games that are practiced by the Amazonian Kichwa community are identified. The objective of this research is to document the information of the traditional games that are practiced in the aforementioned cantons of the province of Napo, to classify them as part of the intangible heritage. The descriptive study was applied to establish the main characteristics of traditional games and the direct observation study to determine the typology, according to the methods and elements of the environment that are part of the materials and rules, in addition all the characteristics that each of these has is detailed in files. The main result is five coded cards in which they contain characteristics of the games classified according to their type, the information of these cards contains the following:  practice of the game, activities, construction, materials and the rules of the game, each game contains a reference image of the game. The games were classified into two types: pukuna and spear throwing, corresponding to traditional games adapted from hunting methods, and waysapuru (ancestral top), chaskina, navigating the river, which correspond to traditional games that use elements of the environment.
